Āloka Portfolio
BEAUTIFUL PIECES
Below you will find a collection of a few interesting projects that have contributed significantly to Āloka. Our early work was more focused on the conventional ethos but over time it has evolved considerably. If you observe all the pieces, you will find that it has matured with age. These are our unique pieces that reflect our passion for art and exploratory style.
THE NIGHT OF LIGHTS
The Night of Lights is one of our earliest projects. It is full bridal henna that includes traditional elements of design. It also touches upon the more contemporary elements and geometric checked patterns that continue are becoming increasingly embedded into our work.
THE BLIND EAGLE
The Blind Eagle is simultaneously a personal and relatable work. Many people find that part of their private soul is on display through The Blind Eagle.
FENCES AND BRIDGES
This work for an inter-faith bride, represents an incredibly powerful theme that permeates our daily lives. With the use of fence like net pattern and floral bridges, we manage to evoke both the positive and negative energy of humankind, its cultural divide, but also its incredible pluralism.
GUSTO
An artist’s theme can often be seen and felt throughout the years, collections, and even individual pieces. Our passion for henna cannot be described better than through this piece which casts vigor and brilliance.
THE FIRST LIGHT
Based on the Vedic idea of 'Awakening the inner light', this work depicts the rising sun and its incredible energy. It means so much more than just the powerful daybreak, it reflects the incredible human courage and resilience in breaking away from the dark night and embarking on a new life.
CALL OF THE PAVO
The Call of Pavo is one of my recent works. It draws inspiration from the asiatic male bird species of genus 'Pavo' known for their piercing calls and extravagant tails which they displays as part of a courtship ritual.
